Stepping Into the Past: Our First Renaissance Faire

Published on 22 September 2025 at 08:32

Last weekend, my sister and I stepped into another world — our very first Renaissance Faire. Neither of us had been to an event like this before, but we went all in, donning rogue-inspired outfits that let us play with a bit of mischief and mystery.

From the moment we arrived, there was a buzz in the air. Traders lined the grounds with stalls full of treasures — handcrafted wares, curiosities, and plenty of things to tempt any would-be rogue. We wandered, browsed, and chatted, soaking up the atmosphere and enjoying the banter.

Of course, we couldn’t resist trying our hands at archery. Bows in hand, we gave it a go — with mixed results, but plenty of laughter. Between the activities, the conversations, and the chance encounters, the day unfolded in the best way possible: a little chaotic, full of energy, and threaded with good humour.

The food was another highlight — hearty, satisfying, and exactly what you’d hope to find at a faire like this.

This was the very first event organised by the team behind Renaissance Faire UK.

As with all new ventures, there are things that could be improved, but that’s part of the journey. For a starting point, it was a fantastic event, and one that left us already looking forward to what they’ll do next.

Sometimes, it’s not just about stepping into the past, but about building something new — and we’re glad we got to be part of the beginning.
